Claude Code Grows Up: From Chat to Agents

Anthropic released Claude Code 2.1.0, and this update is about control, not flash. Agent hooks and reusable skills let developers define structured behaviors instead of relying on one-off prompts. Hot reload makes iterating on those skills fast. Wildcard tool permissions add guardrails so agents can act without turning into security risks.
The bigger signal is intent. Claude Code is shifting from a chat-based helper into an environment for persistent, programmable agents. The new command that moves sessions straight to claude.ai/code ties local and web workflows together. Anthropic is betting that the future of coding with AI is not conversation. It is systems.
